Cash drawer troubleshooting

In this article, we will show you troubleshooting steps that will help you resolve your cash drawer issues.


Before troubleshooting the cash drawer, please note that the cash drawer cannot function if there is any issue with the receipt printer. If, for some reason, the printer is not working with your POS, please troubleshoot your printer by following the steps in this article: https://support.franpos.com/portal/en/kb/articles/receipt-printer-troubleshooting)

  1. Check Connections: Ensure the drawer is connected to your receipt printer.



  2. Verify Paper Roll: Confirm that the paper roll is installed in the printer. Also, check if the printer detects the paper by tapping the feed button.

  3. Printer Settings:

    • Go to Settings -> Devices -> Printers.

    • Ensure "Open cash drawer" is set to option Drawer #1.



    • Tap on "Print Sample". The printer should print a sample receipt and open the cash drawer.

  4. Register Settings:

    • If step 3 is successful but the cash drawer does not open automatically, go to the Register tab -> Options.

    • If the drawer is open (not closed from the previous day), you will see two related options: "Close drawer" and "Drawer entry". Tap on "Drawer entry" to check if the drawer opens automatically.



    • If the drawer is closed, only the "Open Drawer" option will be presented.



  5. Missing Drawer Options:

    • If you do not see any drawer-related options under "Options", follow these steps:

      1. Go to my.franpos.com -> Settings -> Company settings and ensure the "Enable drawer count" toggle is ON.



      2. If it is ON but options are still missing, go to the "i" symbol -> Diagnostics -> Data reset -> Reset Company settings.
