Device Management Report - Control Updates on Your Devices

Starting with Register version 5.8.1, Franpos introduces a feature that allows corporate users to control when POS app updates become available on store devices. This provides better coordination for rolling out updates during off-peak hours or after internal validation.

Preparation

To enable this feature, please contact support@franpos.com.

  • This setting can only be enabled for the entire store chain (not per store).
  • Devices must be running Register 5.8.1 or higher.

Accessing the Feature

Once enabled, you will see two new tabs in the Device Management Report:

  • Push Updates – Allows you to push app updates to selected stores manually.
  • Pushed Updates – Displays a history log of all previously pushed updates.

How It Works

Let’s take an example where one register in Pet Store 1 is not on the latest app version.

When checking for updates on that device manually, it will say: “You are on the latest version” – even though a newer version exists. That’s because the update hasn’t been pushed yet.




Now, go to the Push Updates tab and select the version you wish to push (e.g., Register 5.9-beta3 - Not the latest version available).

During the push process, you can either:

  • Select specific stores (cherry-pick)
  • Or push the update to all stores at once

Once pushed:

  • Devices in the selected stores will now see an update notification.
  • Store representatives can install the update manually using the usual flow.

Important Notes

  • Downgrading to a previous version is not supported.
  • Stores can always update manually by visiting apps.franpos.com.
  • This feature does not apply to PAX or Saturn devices. Updates for those devices are managed separately.
