How to Set Up Product Variants
In this article, we will explain how product variants work in Franpos and how to set them up.
What Are Product Variants?
Product variants are an alternative to matrix items and are typically used to categorize and display the same item with multiple options, such as different colors, sizes, or models on eCommerce.
For example, let's say we have a Scanner that comes in two models — Wireless and Wired.

How to Set Up Product Variants:
- Create both products in the Franpos catalog individually.
- Open one of the items in the Product Management section.
- Navigate to the Product Variant tab.
- Use the search field to find and select the product that should be added as a variant.
- Save the product.

Important Notes:
- Items added as product variants will still be displayed on eCommerce even if the Show on eCommerce toggle is disabled — as long as the Show Online checkbox is enabled under the product variant parameters.
- Adding a product variant to one item does not automatically create the reverse relationship. Each product variant must be added individually to both items.
How It Works:
Once product variants are configured, open the product page on your eCommerce site. You will see an option to switch between product variations directly on the product page — providing your customers with a more convenient and efficient shopping experience.
