Step-by-Step Guide for Preparing Your New Verifone P630

Alert Important: Please follow the steps below carefully. It is extremely important that you complete them in order to ensure your payment terminal is set up correctly.

1. What You Will Find in the Box

You will receive a UPS package containing:

  • Card box with the new Verifone P630 device
  • Plastic bag with the dongle connection cable
  • Plastic bag with the power adapter

Attention: Check the closing cover located at the bottom of the card box.
This piece is needed to properly secure the dongle cable to the device.

2. Assemble your Verifone device

Connecting the Dongle Cable to the Verifone P630:

  • Image 1: Turn the device over, locate the rear port, connect the dongle cable.
  • Image 2: Place the rear cover over the connection to secure it.
  • Image 3: Final assembled appearance.
  • Image 4: Tighten the small screw. A small Phillips screwdriver or a pointed tool can be used.

3. SCAN – Add the New Device to POS

  1. Make sure your POS is running the latest version of Franpos.
    If the system shows Update available, update all POS systems and tablets.
Warning IMPORTANT: Make sure your POS system is fully updated to the latest version before proceeding. This step is vital to ensure the transition completes successfully without errors or interruptions.
  1. On the POS Register app, go to:
    Settings → Devices → Payment Terminal
  1. Tap “Register Verifone Device”
  1. Scan the barcode on the device using your barcode scanner.
    Or manually enter the Serial Number (SN).

  1. Press REGISTER.
  1. Click OK to return to the Register screen. Your POS continues to function normally.

Your POS continues to function normally.
You can keep working and receiving payments in your PAX while preparing the new terminal for the upcoming activation and swap.

4. Powering the Device

On the wide part of the dongle cable, locate the round POWER port.
Insert the adapter plug into this port, and connect the other end to a power outlet.


5. Connecting the Device to Store Wi-Fi

Idea This update can be done any time of the day.

This step consists of turning on the device, connecting it to Wi-Fi, and allowing it to update.

Average update time: 25 minutes.

Warning Connect the device to the same Wi-Fi network your store uses.

When turning on the Verifone P630, you will see:

  1. Android boot logo
  2. “Device is starting…” for a few minutes
  3. At the Welcome screen, press the blue arrow in the bottom-right
Warning The device may restart several times. This is normal.


Notes

Wi-Fi Setup

  1. Tap the + sign to add a Wi-Fi network
  2. Select your store Wi-Fi
  3. Enter the password
  4. Wait until it shows Connected, then press the bottom round button

6. Automatic Update Process

Alert Although the message says up to 40 minutes, the process usually takes around 25 minutes with a good internet connection.
  1. “Setting Up” – device connects to servers
  2. “Device is starting” – multiple reboots (normal)
  3. Firmware updates – do not unplug from power – it is updating internal firmware and cannot be interrupted.

If the screen appears frozen, the update is still in progress. Just wait.

Update Complete

After about 25 minutes, the final screen will appear.
Your device is now updated and ready for the activation and swap.


7. SWAP – Replace the Old Device


Warning
IMPORTANT:
We strongly recommend that you perform the activation and then the swap
AFTER STORE CLOSING. This is to avoid any interruptions during your business day.

Even if your closing time is late, Franpos Support is available by phone at
(408) 898-3217 / Ext 2) to assist you in case of any issues or questions.

Make sure the device finished the update in the previous step.
You should wait the update complete to continue.

Disconnect Old Device

Idea
  • Unplug the (1) power cable (from the outlet)
  • Disconnect the (2) Ethernet cable.
  • Remove the old payment device.

Connect New Device

Idea
  • Place the new Verifone device where the old one was installed.
  • Connect the (1) new power cable as shown in the diagram.
  • Insert the (2) Ethernet cable (the same one removed from the previous device) into the first port on the dongle, labeled ‘ETH’.

8. ACTIVATE – Activate the Device in Franpos POS

  1. Return to the POS Register app → Settings → Devices → Payment Terminal
Info Tap ACTIVATE
  1. After a few seconds, you will see Activation Successfully.

Alert FINISH: Your device is now ready. You can accept payments normally.
