Shopify Integration - Tax and Payment Method Setup

To ensure proper tax reporting and payment reconciliation for Shopify orders in Franpos, you must configure default tax and payment method settings for third-party orders.

These settings define how Shopify orders are recorded in Franpos when they are synced from the Shopify platform.

Where to Configure

Navigate to:
Settings → Third-Party Orders → General Settings

Third-Party Tax Setup

Select a Third-Party Tax that will be applied to Shopify orders created in Franpos.

This tax is used for:

  • Tax reporting
  • Accounting reconciliation
  • Consistent tax handling for online orders

If needed, you can create a custom tax specifically for Shopify to clearly separate online taxes from in-store taxes.

Third-Party Payment Method Setup

Select a Third-Party Payment Method that will represent Shopify payments in Franpos.

This payment method is used when:

  • Shopify orders are synced into Franpos
  • Payments are recorded for reporting and reconciliation
  • Revenue is distributed using royalty or payout rules

We strongly recommend creating a dedicated payment method (for example: Shopify Payments) to clearly distinguish Shopify transactions from in-store payments.

Best Practices

  • Create a custom tax for Shopify if tax rules differ from in-store sales
  • Create a custom payment method for Shopify for clean reporting
  • Use consistent naming to simplify accounting and reconciliation

Result

Once configured:

  • Shopify orders are recorded correctly in Franpos
  • Taxes are applied consistently for online sales
  • Payments are clearly identified as Shopify transactions
  • Reporting and royalty payouts remain accurate

Proper tax and payment method setup is essential for clean accounting and smooth Shopify–Franpos integration.
