How to set it up (4 easy steps)
Step 1 — Basics
- Go to Marketing → Add Campaign.
 - Toggle Include all customers across selected stores if needed and name the campaign.
 - (Optional) Enable Enroll all new locations automatically to apply it to future stores.
 
Step 2 — Message & offer
- Send type: Automated
 - Send criteria: Birthday, send X day(s) before and set Parameter X (for example, 5).
 - Campaign type: Text
 - Offer (discount): Choose an existing promotion to attach.
 - Recipients: Main contacts/parents
 - Subject: Happy Birthday
 - Content (ready to use):
  Happy Birthday, %CustomerFirstName%!
 We’d love to celebrate with you! Enjoy a special discount on your next visit.
 Use code: %DiscountCode%
 See you soon! 
Important: Discount codes in SMS are shown as text only (no barcode). Barcodes are used only in email campaigns.
Step 3 — Schedule & targeting
- Choose your Start date and Send time (for example, 3:30 AM).
 - Filter by location, state, or ZIP if needed.
 
Step 4 — Preview & launch
- Click Preview to verify your message and code merge fields.
 - Send a test SMS to your number to confirm the message looks right.
 - Click Save to start the campaign.
 
Best practices
- Keep it short and personal. A friendly, simple message gets better engagement.
 - Choose an appealing reward. Examples: “$5 off any grooming service” or “Free treat with purchase.”
 - Time it right. Sending 3–5 days before the birthday gives customers time to plan their visit.

Absolutely. The SMS campaign displays the discount code, while the email version can include a barcode for scanning at checkout.

We recommend keeping it under 10 characters to make it easy for customers to read and enter at the register.
