Automatically re-engage customers who haven’t visited in a while. Send a friendly text with a discount code after X days of inactivity.
What it does
- Finds customers who haven’t returned after X days.
- Sends a personalized SMS with a discount code.
- Runs daily—no manual work after setup.
Great for
- Increasing repeat visits
- Moving aging customers back into active status
- Promoting new services or seasonal items
Placeholders you can use:
%CustomerFirstName% → customer’s first name • %CompanyName% → your store name • %DiscountCode% → discount code shown as text in SMS
Step 1 — Basics
- Go to Marketing → Add Campaign.
- (Optional) Toggle Include all customers across selected stores and enable Enroll all new locations automatically for multi-store rollouts.
- Name the campaign (e.g., We Miss You – 45 Days).
Step 2 — Message & offer
- Send type: Automated
- Send criteria: Customer did not return after X day
- Parameter X: set your threshold (e.g., 45 days)
- Campaign type: Text
- Offer (discount): pick the promotion to attach
- Recipients: Main contacts/parents
- Subject: We miss you!
Content (paste one):
Hi %CustomerFirstName%, we’ve missed you at %CompanyName%! Enjoy %DiscountCode% on your next visit—see what’s new!%CustomerFirstName%, it’s been a while. Come back to %CompanyName% and use code %DiscountCode% for a little welcome-back treat.We miss you! Use %DiscountCode% on your next purchase at %CompanyName%. Hope to see you soon!
Important: SMS shows the discount code only (no barcode). Barcodes are available in email campaigns. Keep codes short (under 10 characters) for easy entry.
Step 3 — Schedule & targeting
- Select a Start date and a daily Send time (e.g., 2:30 AM).
- (Optional) Narrow by state or ZIP if you need geo-targeting.
Step 4 — Preview & launch
- Use Preview to confirm merge fields.
- Send a test SMS to verify formatting.
- Click Save to activate.
Best practices
- Pick the right X. Common windows: 30, 45, or 60 days. Start at 45 and adjust based on results.
- Clear, single CTA. “Show this code at checkout” or “Use code within 7–14 days.”
- Measure & iterate. Review redemptions monthly; test different offers and day windows.
FAQ
How is the audience built?
Each day, customers whose last purchase is older than your X-day threshold receive the SMS once, then exit the audience.
Can I run multiple win-back windows?
Yes—create separate campaigns (e.g., 45-day and 90-day) with different offers.
Pro tip: Pair this with a birthday SMS or an email barcode campaign to cover both churn risk and celebration moments.
