Sales Methods on Franpos Pay

Franpos Pay supports multiple secure ways to process sales while maintaining PCI 6 compliance and strong fraud prevention.

1) In-Person (Card Present)

  • How it works: Customer taps, inserts (chip), or swipes the card.
  • Why use: Fastest, most common, and lowest processing cost.
  • Fraud/chargebacks: Strongest protection compared to other methods.

2) Token-Based Sale

  • How it works: Uses a secure stored token (card brand-linked) instead of raw card data.
  • Best for: Subscriptions, memberships, auto-ship, repeat “card on file” sales.
  • Cost: Higher than card-present.
  • Compliance: PCI-aligned; no raw card data stored.

3) Manual Entry on POS (Secure Form)

  • How it works: Staff keys card details in a PCI-compliant encrypted form on the POS.
  • Best for: Phone orders and remote sales when tap/insert/swipe isn’t possible.
  • Cost: Higher than card-present.
  • Security: Card data isn’t exposed to staff or stored in the system.

Quick Reference

Method When to Use Cost Security/Notes
In-Person (Card Present) Counter payments; tap/chip/swipe Lowest Best fraud/chargeback protection
Token-Based Subscriptions, memberships, repeat sales Higher than card-present PCI-aligned; no raw card data stored
Manual Entry (Secure Form) Phone/remote orders; exceptions Higher than card-present Encrypted PCI form; data not exposed

Summary: Use card-present whenever possible for speed, security, and the lowest fees. Token and manual entry offer flexibility for repeat and remote sales, with higher processing costs due to card-not-present risk.
